Low military service pay: Petition in Orissa HC

A petition was filed in the Orissa High Court on Monday by former Defence personnel against the Finance and Defence Ministries against being aggrieved over the low pay given to soldiers, sailors and airmen since September 1, 2008.
The petitioners stated that because of this, each individual ex-Serviceman pensioner (JCO,OR) lost a minimum Rs 31,0700 (without DA) in the last 109 months and, thus, they subsequently also lost the benefits of OROP and the 7th  Central Pay Commission recommendations which is  linked to this Military Service Pay whereas the real benefit is availed only by the Commissioned Rank Officers.
This is great injustice and can demoralise both serving and retired Junior Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and the other ranks of the three services, pointed out the petitioners.
If in India an organisation like military, the Government cannot bring uniformity in single allowance, i.e., Military Service Pay which represents persons wearing uniforms then the country would never reach the basic objectives of the Constitution that are equality, justice, fraternity, freedom and liberty as enumerated in its preamble, the petitioners stated.

      1. I do support this commendable move.when medical allowance given to esm from sepoy to general is same I.e. rs 500 pm then why a discrimination in map
MSP should be given to compensate a soldier unbiased by the ranks .Certainly pbors lost most of their dues because map being a recon able element in pension

    3. It is fact that Govt. think that only commissioned officers are running the defence. Soldiers are not given attension.

    4. If we go through the data pertaining to border casualty or natural calamity, the other ranks are worst affected maximum. who deserves equal remuneration at par with officers in the matter of disability pension and hardship allowances. when any combatant is amputated on any account, soldier limbs are less worthy that is why they are being less paid in comparison with officers because soldier's hands are made of wood whereas officers hands are made of gold that is why they are paid more, MSP, disability pension and hardship allowances should be rationalised and given at par for all combatants regardless of rank and status
take the matter to the supreme court they will resolve within a week

    5. I congratulate the petitioners who now approached the door of Orrisa High Court In my view it should have been put up to the RB AFT.

    6. I wish to say that Junior Commissioned Officers and Below to be paid more Military service than officers and Nurse(MNS) as they are facing less threats and hazards 03 Armed Forces wherever they deployed either in peace or field from time to time but no one is interested to see the real facts. Very bad and Sad

    8. MSP of Officers cannot be equated with JCO's & OR as Officers Training is 4 years and for Jawans is less than 1 year and Selection process for Officers is much tougher. Further, there is 14000 shortage of Officers where as there is is NO shortage of JCO's & OR's. Hence, MSP of Officers accordingly is to be maintained much higher to JCO's/ OR.

      2. Barring NDA where is duration of training is 4 yrs .OTA is only 6 months.MSP should be fairly given to jcos and below I.e. minimum 50% of rate given to offrs

      3. MSK Rao, I wish to say that in Defence Forces maximum Officers are too selfish and do not interest to see the real problem of their own Jawans but they are keen interested to harass them whenever chances to get. Very sad and Bad as your category is not interested to see the real problem of JCOs/ORs hence my view is Military Service Pay (MSP) to be equal from Sepoy to Brigadier (Actually Col and above are not entitled for MSP as they are not facing that much hazards compared to Majors and Below) but JCOs and Below are the first victim whenever war or any Terrorist activities occurred therefore MSP to be more than Officers and MNS as I feel

      4. I wish to say that the strength of Officers will never fulfilled as I understood that the Officers category is always enlarging their duties with fake counting of their borne strength is too shortage to get more benefits from Government whenever welfare measures announced by Govt.I never considered Officers are Ex Servicemen and their main duty is to exploit Jawans entitlement by tampering their legitimate entitlements by applying various acts of 03 Services. Officers are getting some welfare issues in the name of Jawans only. Without Officers Jawan can survive but without Jawan no Officer can survive without any movement or any second

    10. Reg MSP, cann't agree with the view of Mr MSK Rao. If officers qualification, selection and training are more tough they should get higher starting emoluments. There is
no doubt in that. The same three fold increase can't be applied for all aspects like MSP,high altitude allowances etc. It undermines the need or importance of Jawan community in India. You are a commissioned officer and you are the finest military brain in the world, can you bring glory to this grate nation without Jawans giving their blood? If the answer is yes you deserve more.... not three fold.. even five fold. Pl ask yourself.
